Casa Grande Surf Hostel in El Médano offers a relaxed atmosphere with simple dorms and a rooftop terrace featuring ocean views, just steps from the beach.
Casa Grande Surf Hostel is a budget-friendly option located in the peaceful area of El Médano, Tenerife. The hostel features basic dormitory accommodations and a private room, making it suitable for families looking for an affordable stay. Guests appreciate the friendly owner and the welcoming atmosphere. The hostel is conveniently located just a short walk from several beautiful beaches, including Playa de El Médano and Playa Chica. While the hostel offers a rooftop terrace for relaxation, some guests have noted cleanliness issues and a lack of privacy due to unsecured rooms. The hostel is well-connected by local buses, making it easy to explore the island. Overall, it may appeal to families seeking a laid-back beach experience.

Very basic hostel with a very basic breakfast. Rooms are ok, but not a lot of space, the furniture is the cheapest and all in all it has a weird vibe. I recommend to book another hostel in el Médano.
Hostel is in El Médano, not very touristic place but very peaceful and close to the beach. If you want to explore island more there are buses close to the Hostel and they can take you anywhere. Its 2-3€ it depends where u going. The owner, she is very nice and helpful. People are very nice. The only thing i did not like there are no locks or pins in the rooms. So anyone who is not staying in the room can just come in if they want. No one did it for my room but there should me more security anyway. If I’m going El Médano again, i would stay in this hostel again. People were very friendly as well.
LOCATION The hostel boasts a superb location, just 15 seconds from the beach. You can conveniently access the hostel using a number code, making it easy to head out to the beach with just your towel. This prime location is one of the standout features of the hostel. CLEANLINESS While facilities that require daily cleaning are maintained, many areas of the hostel appear to have been neglected for a long time. For instance, the courtyard is covered in bird droppings, a space where many guests, often barefoot, hang their clothes to dry. The lack of a professional cleaning team is evident, as cleaning is not done thoroughly. SLEEP QUALITY The quality of the mattresses varies significantly. Some are in such poor condition that they are uncomfortable to sleep on. Although you can request a different bed without any issues, the problematic mattresses are simply passed on to the next guest, making new guests first nights potentially miserable. Additionally, the enforcement of quiet hours is lacking. The rooftop remains open without restrictions, and noise can easily be heard from the rooms, even as late as 2 a.m., making it difficult to sleep. SIZE AND ATMOSPHERE The hostel is smaller than expected, which limits the social opportunities, especially if you don’t speak Spanish. The limited influx of new travelers may also reduce the chance of meeting new people, a common reason many choose hostels. The small size and language barrier may hinder the social experience for some guests. AMENITIES The roof terrace is a pleasant spot to relax and read a book, offering a nice retreat within the hostel. However, the overall experience could be significantly improved with better management and more consistent enforcement of house rules. SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT I would personally prefer to pay an extra 5 euros for proper cleaning and for staff to enforce house rules more effectively, ensuring all guests feel comfortable and can enjoy their stay.
So it is a hostel, but this is more than that. It has a big dining room and a big living room plus a roof top terrace, I was living there for couple of weeks. It was very pleasant. The owner of the Hostel are also nice people!
Nice hostel, very close to the sea. They allow you to use surf boards, snorkels, masks etc free of charge which is nice and I made use of. They also offer surf lessons and yoga sessions in the morning for an additional price. The bathrooms could benefit from a bit of cleaning but otherwise no complaints
