A bit of a mixed bag to be honest. The hotel complex is close to the beach although there is major construction work happening so if there's a breeze its like being in a sandstorm down there - if you walk a bit further down the promenade though it is much more pleasant and there are shower facilities. We went for a duplex room that was ok - there is alot of movement around the floors with chairs etc being dragged around and we were also put next to a main drainage pipe which wasn't ideal with consistent water flowing next to our bedroom. The additional bed was a sofa bed which was pretty uncomfortable. Hotel personal wise the front desk staff are pleasant as are the bar staff, we also played padel tennis several times and the sports center staff were helpful. I think the major let down is the breakfast / lunch / dinner service - there are too many people in the Almaris hotel to cater for leading to long queue times to both enter the restaurant area and to get food. The woman on the breakfast service doing the eggs / pancakes / omelettes is seemingly xenophobic as she will only serve Spanish people - it got to the point where she was actively skipping me in the queue to avoid serving me and moving onto the next person so be careful of her. The women doing the snacks is miserable so again be careful. I think all the catering staff are generally miserable which says alot. You also have to be careful with the room cleaning service, ours was absolutely fine and no problems but our family had items taken from the room - it was really weird things like a hair band or pyjamas but nevertheless items should be safe in the room. There is a good bus service outside the hotel to get to Barcelona and Salou is a good visit. It would have been a 6 out of 10 but downgraded to 4 out of 10 for the points mentioned.
Just finished a week here with my partner and three kids. Overall it was good but definitely some areas to improve. Pros - Great location! Next to a beach, next to a park and really close to the Reus Airport - Brilliant gym. It’s got everything you need and free for guests - Paddle and tennis courts are great for a small extra cost (€15) - Breakfast was good - Hotel is modern and clean - Front desk staff are helpful and nice. Toddler was sick a couple of times and they helped and supported us quickly - Unlimited help yourself drinks and snacks at the bar area - Great play area with arcade games and pool table for kids. Cons - Food was pretty awful. Sometimes you would get lucky and the grilled meat/food as good but sometimes it wouldn’t and nothing else was very good. Breakfast was decent with a lot of options but lunch and dinner were okay at best. - Not cutlery for a baby/toddler which is crazy for a family hotel. - Spa and hotel is free but you are not told you need certain things (like towel or head cap) and you are paid to pay for it - not massive but annoying Overall kids and we liked it and it has everything we needed. Unlikely to go again, but not because it was bad, just because it wasn’t so good it is worth not trying somewhere new.
There food is bland, dry, uncooked and repulsive. I got some chicken during dinner and I got server food poisoning and needed to go to the hospital. The cleaners steal from your rooms and do the bare minimum. They hardly wash the mops room to room so you get a dirty mopped floor. 4 days in a row some cleaner took a fat dump in my toilet and didn't flush it. Reception wouldn't do anything about the theft and it just seemed like they didn't care, we haven't heard anything about the earphones that got stolen. The outside pool is tiny!! It would never fit a small hotel let alone 1000s of residents. If you do end up in the trashy hotel you should visit "Mix La Pineda Restaurant" just around the corner they have lovely food and great staff.
Just got back from 7 nights here and It was amazing from start to finish. We have fallen in love with this hotel. We stayed in Hotel 2 - Almaris in a Duplex room with balcony. The room was immaculate when we arrived and staff were very attentive and friendly. We did all inclusive and cannot fault anything. Food was good, different theme for lunch and dinner daily. There are 2 very fussy eaters in my family and they found plenty to eat daily. The snack bar was always full with chips, burgers, hotdogs, salads, toasties, chicken nuggets and fresh sandwiches. The kids absolutely loved the self serve ice cream and drinks. We didn’t see much of the entertainment but what we did see was good. The pool was great for the kids, not small but not too big so you could see them at all times. No problems getting a sun bed at all, managed to get 4 for us all every time we went down to the pool. 5 minute walk down to beach and a 25 minute bus ride to PortAventura theme park. We had an absolutely amazing time and will definitely be back. We have nothing bad to say at all. We really didn’t want to come home.
This is honestly the worst hotel I’ve ever been to. Period. The service is bad, the music is always way too loud, and the drinks are far too expensive and the pool is very cold.
