We stayed in this hotel for the 4th time already, last time for a very special Christmas week, which says it all:)! The hotel is super beautifully located directly in the sea. Views are stunning. Rooms are super nice. Some side rooms, directing towards red mountain, even have view on Teide volcan! Open terrace can be used for breakfast or life enjoyment, and its just great. Location is directly in the downtown, very comfy, in dynamic center, at the same time still - in the nature. Our absolutely favorite and beloved receptionist is Tanja! She is always super warm, mega welcoming, greatly speaks English and German, and generally - extremely impressive! We always come back also because of her:)! Conclusion: the hotel is fantastic and we will come back again!

Great location and clean facilities. The ocean view and breeze, balcony with beach chairs makes it almost worth it. It’s right on the water, but El Médano is tiny and you can walk to anything so does location matter that much? Very small room, no AC, unfriendly staff. Surprised no pool or gym with price point. There’s a nice “office” meeting space on the first floor. I used for work late into the night because room WiFi was not great. Luckily there’s lobby WiFi. Why are the elevators so tiny? A Europe thing I guess? Breakfast buffet is fantastic (big selection)and there’s beach access and sunset viewing spot. They give you beach towels at the front — however grudgingly. Overall good experience and they took last minute (day of) booking in cash.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An incredibly warm and special place Our stay at Hotel Médano exceeded all expectations. First of all, I would like to highlight the hotel staff — incredibly kind, polite, attentive and genuinely caring. This is one of those rare places where you truly feel the care, not just hear polite words. The room was much larger than we expected — lots of space and light. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable, with three different types of pillows of varying firmness, as well as blankets, bedspreads and sheets. We stayed in January and comfortably used the duvet, but there is a real choice — everyone can find what suits them best. The shower deserves special praise: very spacious, recently renovated, everything is new, modern plumbing and a wonderful rain shower. Honestly, I have rarely seen such a large and comfortable shower even in higher-priced hotels. The room also has a large full-length mirror, a kettle, daily bottled water, and complimentary instant coffee (with and without caffeine). There is also a great selection of tea — black, green, chamomile and mint, all included, which was a lovely touch. I contacted the hotel in advance requesting a high floor and a sea view — and it was simply magical. We had a room with a window (no balcony), and falling asleep to the real sound of the ocean was something truly special. For many years I have only been able to fall asleep listening to rain or ocean sounds — and here it was real, natural and alive. Absolutely unforgettable. The hotel is literally right on the ocean — there is direct access via steps into the water. There are several open terraces (on the third and fourth floors), perfect for enjoying sunrise and sunset. I watched the sunrise from the terrace as the sun rose directly from the ocean horizon — breathtaking. The sunsets are just as stunning, with the sun disappearing behind the mountains. The beach is another highlight and quite rare for Tenerife. It is completely calm, protected from waves on both sides, and ideal for swimming — even for families with children. Sandy, clean, and every morning I personally saw the beach being carefully cleaned by machinery. People swim here at sunrise and sunset, even in January. Right outside the hotel is a lovely square with a wide variety of restaurants — seafood restaurants, pizzerias, cafés, ice cream places. The atmosphere is lively and pleasant, yet completely quiet at night — no clubs, no loud music, perfect for sleeping. Breakfast was good, varied and enjoyable. The purpose of our trip was to celebrate my birthday, and the hotel was informed in advance. What followed was a truly touching surprise: during breakfast, a waitress recognised me and brought a slice of birthday cake with “Happy Birthday” written on it. It was incredibly sweet and unexpected, and it made the day feel truly magical. I would also like to mention the excellent communication — emails were answered very quickly, sometimes within 20 minutes, even late at night. This level of customer care is outstanding, especially compared to much more expensive hotels where I never received a single reply. On the day of departure (our check-out was at 4 a.m.), the receptionist himself reminded us about our pre-ordered breakfast picnic boxes. He remembered my emails and requests, congratulated me on my birthday once again, and we left with wonderful emotions after a truly special weekend. Thank you to the entire team for creating such a warm, caring and unforgettable experience. I will definitely return 💙

Why are towels handed out at check-in, only for guests to be asked to bring them back again at check-out? How customer-unfriendly is that? Do I have to bring the bed sheets also? The rooms are only superficially clean. Dirty light switches. The back of the TV looks like a trash bin. The rear side of the sink faucet is dirty. Door and window frames are covered in greasy marks. The hotel is extremely noisy. All day long you hear furniture being dragged around — a grating sound that goes straight through you. Breakfast time is a complete disaster. Guests constantly slam their room doors shut, even late in the evening. No paper tissues in the room. How much could that possibly cost? Hotel management apparently allows guests to “reserve” sun loungers by placing their towels on them. Completely unacceptable. See the picture of the Christmas decorations in attachment. That was the only Christmas decoration in the entire building. Cozy. It says a lot about how they view their guests.

🇬🇧 “It is not allowed to bring food from outside.” These words, delivered with remarkable intensity by a rather over-zealous waiter, abruptly ended my attempt to enjoy a cortado on the hotel terrace — a terrace blessed with a beautiful view over the bay of El Médano. Dutifully, I put the pastry I had bought at a nearby bakery back into its bag, finished my coffee, and left. One cannot help but pause: is this really the level of hospitality offered at a hotel charging over €300 per night for a double room? I later inquired whether the hotel itself offered any cake, pastry, or even a modest biscuit to accompany the coffee. The answer was admirably concise: “There is nothing.” The breakfast room reinforces the overall impression: efficient, but entirely devoid of warmth. Conclusion: too many rules, too little hospitality. At this price point, guests expect more than regulations — they expect to feel welcome.
